Board spends 13 years helping keep Forsyth green
For 13 consecutive years, Forsyth has been designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. “Since the Tree Board’s incep- tion, the Village has planted over 1,600 trees and shrubs,” said Roger Mulholland, the Board’s chairman. “This accomplishment has qualified the Village of Forsyth for the Tree City USA annual award.” In April 1996, the Village Board trustees passed an ordinance to establish a five-member Tree Board to regulate the number and type of trees to be planted. The board monitors the maintenance and/or removal of trees and shrubs in the parks and Village property and rights-of-way. Mulholland said Public Works Director Larry Coloni as an ex officio board member is “...vital to carrying out the board’s wishes.” Each Tree Board member is appointed by the mayor to serve a three- year term after approval by the Village trustees. |
