Garbage rates not regulated

Garbage hauler rates will not be regulated in Forsyth.

Although the Village, unlike nearby communities, does not regulate its garbage rates, Health and Safety Committee members feel that the three haulers providing services in Forsyth do a pretty good job of regulating rates on their own.

After studying the matter, the Health and Safety Committee concluded that “as long as there is competition, [garbage haulers] regulate each other,” according to Board trustee and committee chair John Walters. “Our concept is working,” he said. “It’s a free market competition for service and price.”
