Forsyth Fast Facts
• The Village Board awarded a 739,644 contract to Burdick Plumbing and Heating Co. Inc. of Decatur to complete the Well No. 6 pipeline project. The contract is subject to approval by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) since this project is being funded with the IEPA’s State Revolving Loan Fund (SRF). GRR Construction Inc. of Chester, Ill., was selected to build a well house for the project. The company was the lowest of five bidders for the project with a bid of 179,509 and will begin work in early September. Construction is expected to take nine weeks.
• The Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss a request to dedicate a park bench in memory of Kellan Knop, a Forsyth youth killed last month in a Village subdivision while in-line skating.
• Board trustees approved a site for a new Public Works Department building, close to Fitch Street between Ruehl and Cox streets and east of Smith Street. This site is part of an overall development plan for acreage the Village owns south of County Highway 20.
• Trustees approved a new pocket park for Forsyth Estates to be built on the north side of the waterway and 50 feet off Avalon Drive.
• Based on a request from a Village resident, the Health and Safety Committee will review an ordinance banning motorized scooters on Forsyth’s bike paths/hiking trails. The committee was to study the request Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. in Village Hall.
• Trustees approved having Public Works Director Larry Coloni and his staff proceed with an expansion to the concession stand in the main part of Forsyth Park.
• Several species of trees will be planted along the bike path on the west side of Hickory Point Mall property. Trustees approved spending 3,400 to purchase and ship the trees.
• Cindy Ejankowski of 5240 Navajo Drive has been appointed to the Library Committee.
• Trustees authorized Village Attorney Darrell Woolums to proceed with legal action seeking removal of a sign at Forsyth Professional Centre. The sign does not meet special use conditions. |
