REGULATIONS FOR WATER SERVICE HOOK UPS 1. A permit to attach to the Village of Forsyth Water System must be obtained from the Village Hall before any attachment or tap at any point is made. 2. A tapping fee of $550.00 must be paid at the time of making application for water services. 3. All taps in the water main must be made by a plumber licensed by the State of Illinois and the Public Works Director must be notified before the actual tap is made. 4. All connections are to be of Mueller Co. manufacture. 5. All services shall be at least 3 feet 6 inches below the ground surface and are to be a minimum of 3/4” Type K copper tubing from the tap to the curb stop and from the curb stop to the residence and shall terminate with a minimum 3/4” shut off valve ahead of the meter. The Village of Forsyth required of 3” floor drains. 6. The Village will furnish a water meter which is to remain the property of the Village and shall be installed by the customer and adequately protected from freezing and damage. All repairs of the meters, with the exception f freeze damage, shall be the responsibility of the Village. No meter is to be installed in a crawl space, and meter must be easily accessible for repairs. 7. All plumbing work form the curb stop on may be installed by the customer and all costs of labor and materials for making such connections shall be paid by the applicant. 8. All connections, taps, curb stops and laying of the copper tubing to the residence must be inspected by the Water Department before the trench is backfilled. If the trench is backfilled before inspection, it will have to be re-opened the entire length for inspection. The meter and dial must be installed as soon as possible. The remote reader dial accompanying the meter must be mounted at the height of 5’ and easily visible (and accessible) to the meter reader. 9. Before water service for home use is furnished, the Water Department will inspect the hook up to the meter and dial and seal both with the Village seal. 10. The minimum charge for water service will be charged beginning with the date the physical hook up is made to the water main. 11. Any person or contractor selling a house, where water service is furnished by the Village, shall have the new owner sign an application or assume the original contract before water service is furnished to the new owner. Otherwise, the original owner (or contractor) will be billed until the new owner signs for water service. 12. Where there has been a previous water system in use, there must be a complete disconnect from the well system as STATE law prohibits the use of Village water with a well system. |
